Quirks of Art presents Joyce Fritz Studio

Mid-May Quirks of Art will transform into a paradise of natural wonders and colorful creatures that you can adopt! We wouldn't call any of these insect themed brooches, scatter pins, earrings and necklaces creepy- crawlies... they are too gorgeous! (They might make your friends say "YIPES"! all the same... right before they ask you where you found such a lovely new friend!) "Yipes!"
Jewelry designs by artist Joyce Fritz are handmade in polymer clay. The designs are not painted on, but are an integral part of the object. The patterns you'll see in the butterfly wings, beetle shells, and lizard skins are all created using sheets and coils of clay, stacked and compressed together.
This ancient process is called Millefiori, Italian for “one thousand flowers.” Recycled and new wire, glass beads, glitter and metallic leaf are used to embellish each creature. See a friend you want to call dibs on? Let us know and we'll make sure we have a specimen just for you come May 13th!
