Mathews County May Faire

May Faire, a family-friendly event sponsored by the Mathews County Historical Museum, will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the county’s historic court green, according to the museum committee’s event coordinator Nancy Twigg.

The day will focus on the heritage, culture, seafood bounty and natural beauty of Mathews County from the 1600s to 1791, when the county was founded, Twigg said.

There will be fine art, traditional crafts, heritage demonstrations, food vendors, a country store exhibit, live music, colonial activities and games for children. “You will also be able to interact with local Native Indians and Colonial Revolution reenactors,” she said. “In the afternoon, you will be entertained by May Pole dancers.”

May Faire will be open free of charge to the public, with free parking available.
