“Wine for a New World”
Mark Parsons of Christchurch School examines Virginians’ efforts to produce wine in America’s first colony, from Acte Twelve in 1619 to the aspirations of Thomas Jefferson. Parson highlights Charles Carter of Cleve, who in 1763 was awarded a medal from the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce in London for his wine-making in Virginia. Includes tasting of Virginia wines.
