Gwynn's Island Festival
America is celebrating its 250th Anniversary this year, and all are invited to take part in the commemorative activities. The Gwynn’s Island Festival will launch the Mathews 250th Celebration, marking the first of five major events scheduled for Mathews County.
The festivities begin on Friday, June 26th, with a chicken dinner that includes a full assortment of side dishes. Meals can be picked up through our drive-thru starting at 4:30 PM or dine in from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door for $18.
The annual Gwynn’s Island Festival takes place on the last Saturday of June (June 27th) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offering free admission. Attendees are invited to celebrate the heritage of Gwynn's Island through a diverse selection of handmade crafts, including jewelry, woodwork, leather goods, paintings, photography, and ironworks. The event also features live music throughout the day, a variety of food vendors, midway games in the Fun Zone, and additional special activities. This longstanding community tradition offers an excellent opportunity to experience and appreciate the culture of Gwynn’s Island and celebrate the America’s 250th Anniversary.
