Dining with the Lees: An 18th-Century Mid-Day Meal will be hosted on Saturday, June 4, 2016, by culinary historian and author Nancy Carter Crump. Ms. Crump will present a lecture in the duPont Library followed by a tour of the Great House and Old Kitchen and culminating in a meal served in the Stratford Hall Dining Room with cash bar. Steve Andersen, Chef at the Inn at Stratford Hall, will prepare the meal using period recipes from Nancy Carter Crump’s book, Hearthside Cooking.

10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Lecture on hearthside cooking in the duPont Library at Stratford Hall
11:15 – 12:30 p.m. Stratford Hall Tours of Great House and Old Kitchen
1:00 – 2:30 p.m. 18th-Century Mid-Day Meal in the Inn at Stratford Hall Dining Room
The menu includes Maryland Crab Soup, Glazed Ham, A Ragoo of Asparagus, Leslie’s Lettuce Peas, Carrots Dressed the Dutch Way, Boiled New Potatoes, Salad of greens with Mr. Evelyn’s Vinaigrette, Sally Lunn, Mr. Carter’s Raspberry Cream, and Jumbles and other “little cakes.”
Registration is required and the deadline to register is March 31, 2016. The cost of the event is $75 per person. The minimum attendance for the event to proceed will be 20 persons; the maximum for the event is limited to 50. Due to limited space, please make your reservation early by calling the Inn at Stratford Hall by March 31, 2016.
