Dawn of Night
to
Williamsburg Presbyterian Church 215 Richmond Road , White Stone, Virginia 23185
The Williamsburg Choral Guild celebrates and examines sunset as both an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon and as a metaphor for physical, emotional, and spiritual transition.
The concert features Jonathan Dove’s Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars, an often ecstatic composition for mixed chorus and organ extolling the beauty of a clear night sky, Connor Koppin’s Echo, a new mixed chorus and piano setting of Christina Rossetti poetry imploring life’s memories to return ‘in the speaking silence of a dream’ and Stephen Chatman’s Dawn of Night, a work for mixed chorus and violoncello with poetry by Tara Wohlberg reflecting on the ‘sunset of our love deep love.’
Join Artistic Director Brian Isaac, pianist Karen Areheart Ives and the chorus as they perform this inspiring and somewhat contemplative concert.
