Container Gardening with Dee King
to
Stratford Hall 483 Great House Rd., Stratford, Virginia 22558
Join us on Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. until noon, for a workshop that will cover the basics for making a beautiful container and tips to keep it strong during the growing season and beyond.
Container gardening is the most enjoyable and creative of all the facets of gardening. A container can be a small as a thimble or as large as a bathtub. It can be used to enhance a table centerpiece or liven up a dull place in an established garden. Larger containers can be used as a “living wall” around a swimming pool or to separate one garden from another. Plantings can be changed to suit the season. Whatever the occasion, a container garden will fit the bill.
Please bring a container of your choice that is at least 10 inches in diameter and 4 to 5 inches deep with drain holes. Be creative. Like an old boot, an old metal box that’s been sitting in the garage for years and you don’t know what to do with it. How about a wooden tool box from Grandpa’s toolshed? An old teapot. Think outside the box. The more unique, the more pleasure your creation will give you.
The cost of the workshop is $45.00 per person (cost includes a Grounds Pass). Pre-registration is required by September 29, 2017, by 5:00 p.m.
The workshop will include all necessary materials, such as potting soil, plantings and tools for you to complete your “masterpiece.” After you have created your container garden, you will make a little object to be taken home for your children or grandchildren.
Light refreshments will be provided.
