Join the AMA Hampton Roads on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at The Woodlands Conference Center in Colonial Williamsburg for "Colonial Williamsburg’s “9/11” Superbowl Ad Crisis Management".
The Super Bowl is the most coveted destination for advertisers. With a Nielsen Score in the high-40s to mid-50s, there’s no place better to advertise. But, the risk is real. Do we place the bet for eternal fame (like Apple or Budweiser) or will we watch the money go down the drain with a spot that missed it completely?
In 2016, Colonial Williamsburg decided to go for it. The ad, which aired in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, featured footage of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.
Andrea Sardone, Executive Director of Marketing at Colonial Williamsburg, will discuss and answer questions about the Foundation’s decision. She’ll share the mechanics of the spot, the lessons learned, and the outright mistakes that they made when they debuted on the world’s most vaunted commercial spot.
