5x5 Small Works Silent Auction Fundraiser
to
On the Hill Gallery 402 Main Street, Yorktown, Virginia 23690
The Yorktown Arts Foundation will host a silent auction of small works by members and “notable neighbors” beginning at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at On The Hill Gallery in historic Yorktown.
Earlier this year, YAF members were challenged to create and donate works of art in their chosen medium on 5x5-inch canvases, or provided other small works for the fundraiser. More than 50 will be part of the auction.
“This is our third 5x5 fundraiser, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting show,” said Kathleen Wahl, president of Yorktown Arts Foundation. “I’ve seen the donated works – including watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, photography and ceramics – and they’re wonderful.”
“This year, the fundraiser also has works from what we call ‘notable neighbors,’” said Wahl. “They are well-known people who live and work in York County, or contribute to the arts and culture here,” she said. These “notable neighbors” are:
Terry Buntrock, Founder & Executive Director of Triangle Arts and Culture League
Patrick Faulkner, Managing Partner Towne Bank Private Wealth Management
Sheila Noll, Chairman of the York County Board of Supervisors
Marisa Porto, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Press
Hank Viccellio, Viccellio Goldsmith and Fine Jewelry
The works are on preview at Riverwalk Restaurant, 323 Water Street, through Friday, Oct. 12, at Yorktown Market Days Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 and at On the Hill Gallery Sunday, Oct. 14 through the event. Pre-auction bids may be made at any of these venues during the preview times.
All are invited to the event, which takes place 5:55-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at On The Hill Gallery, 402 Main Street in Historic Yorktown. During the event, visitors may bid on works through a silent auction and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, desserts and wine from Williamsburg Winery. Admission is free.
A portion of the proceeds from the silent auction are tax-deductible; all money raised during the event will benefit the Yorktown Arts Foundation and its programs.
