Making an Impression: Linoleum Cut Printmaking • In this hands-on workshop participants will learn the limitless process of creating linoleum cut relief prints that can be used for making greeting cards, fine art, and illustrations. Participants will learn how to translate text into visual iconography and create an original work of art. Materials provided: Portable Etching Press, Linoleum, Sharpie Markers, Woodcutting Tools, Bench hooks, Pencils, Printing Paper Workshop time: 5 hours with lunch break included (please bring a lunch or order from a local restaurant in advance so that class can resume after a 30-minute break). Instructor: Steve Prince, award-winning artist and Director of Engagement and Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art, College of William and Mary. Prince, a self-styled 'art evangelist,' believes in creating a welcoming space to express the power and beauty of art, to share his process, and to extend that experience to everyone. His own work across multiple media is layered with history and symbols, thematic and community-based.
