We’ll have the delightful Hope & Glory Inn entirely to ourselves, creating a private sanctuary where we can connect, unwind, and celebrate the written word.

The retreat begins with a private welcome reception along the Rappahannock River, hosted by Bookshelf owner Lisa McLaughlin, where you’ll meet fellow readers while taking in the serene beauty of the Chesapeake Bay region. Over three enriching days, June 4th – 7th, 2026, you’ll enjoy an exclusive author dinner, engage in thoughtfully curated book-related activities, and dine at Irvington’s beloved local restaurants—each meal a chance to savor both cuisine and great conversation.

Between planned activities, you’ll have plenty of free time to explore the area’s natural beauty, stroll through charming streets, curl up with a good book in a cozy corner of the inn, or simply relax and recharge.
