Also opening (summer 2025) is Voodoo Brewery in Williamsburg. It’s affiliated with Voodoo Brewing but independently owned and operated by Michael Davis, a 35-year resident of Williamsburg. Like the other breweries, the goal is a community gathering space, said Voodo Brewing Chief Marketing Officer Tom Guzick.
Guzick said among the trends he’s seeing in the craft beer industry is a resurgence of crisp, crushable lagers. “People are gravitating toward clean, high-quality, low [alcohol by volume] beers that they can enjoy more than one of,” he said.
Localism also plays a major role. “Drinkers want to support brands that feel rooted in their communities, even if they’ve grown beyond their hometown,” Guzick said. “And overall, the taproom experience has become more important than ever. People want a place where beer, food and atmosphere all come together to create something memorable.”
Voodoo is also leaning into trends with its own twist. They’ve expanded into spirits and cocktails to meet the demand for variety and evolving taste. Along with a great pub experience—unique food, cool merchandise and a vibe people come back for, he said.
Just like the taverns of yore, I bet.
