The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum requests your presence at “With This Ring” – a display of vintage wedding gowns and accessories on view in the Walker House May 29th to June 29th.
About half a dozen vintage gowns, plus bridal portraits, bouquets, invitations, a wedding cake, classic floral arrangements and other memorabilia, will be on display throughout the home. The Walker House, built in 1875, is the oldest house standing in Reedville and was the original home of the museum. Since 1990, it has been decorated as a typical family home of a working waterman of the early 20th century.
The late Marguerite Walker, the last member of the family to live in the house, was a seamstress and fitted wedding gowns for the area’s young women back in the day.
The museum is at 504 Main Street in Reedville, Virginia. Sunday hours are being added on May 25th, so the seasonal schedule will be 11am-4pm Thursdays-Saturdays and 1-4pm Sundays. Admission, which includes the Walker House and all other inside and outside exhibits, is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and veterans, and free for children under 17 and active military members.
