As Virginia prepares to commemorate 250 years of American history, the Northern Neck Hidden History Trail is pleased to invite you to a special community event honoring an important figure in Virginia’s early history.
Elizabeth Key Historical Highway Marker Unveiling

The Northern Neck has a remarkable history that is deeply connected to the larger story of Virginia and our nation. The unveiling of this roadside historic marker honoring Elizabeth Key provides an opportunity to bring one of those important stories forward as we celebrate Virginia 250 and the Northern Neck 250.
Elizabeth Key’s life and landmark legal case represent an important chapter in the history of freedom, identity, and colonial Virginia. Recognizing her story at this historic location will help ensure that her contributions and experiences are remembered by residents, visitors, students, and future generations.
Following the unveiling, we will host a small reception for attendees.

Because this event includes a reception and we are making special arrangements for VIPs, elected officials, community leaders, historians, descendants, organizational representatives, and invited guests, we ask that everyone planning to attend please RSVP.
