Kinsale has been hosting a community-wide 4th of July celebration since 2000, inviting everyone out for good ole-fashioned fun and a spectacular fireworks show over the Yeocomico River. We close the main road down and celebrate in the streets and across the bridge, as people gather to eat, drink, and enjoy live music until the sun sets and the fireworks reflect over the river.
We are excited to celebrate once again with the community and our partners at the Kinsale Market and Cople District Volunteer Fire Department. The road will close at 4pm on Friday, July 4th and food, drinks, and music from the Hard to Tell Band will start at 5pm. At 7pm the recently formed Kinsale Waterfront Fund, a non-profit group focused on charitable and social events at the waterfront that promote the unique beauty and traditions of our historic port town, will be hosting fun and games for all to enjoy. Around 9:15pm the Cople District Volunteer Fire Department will light up the skies with their legendary fireworks show.
All are invited to join and come by river or road! Please reach out to The Slips marina via email, crew@the-slips.com, if you’d like to reserve a spot for the day or night if you’re coming by boat. Parking will be available in marked lots throughout town, on both sides of the bridge.
Big thanks to the Cople District Fire Department, local EMS, fire & police, our sponsors, and the many generous private donations from the community that make this event possible every year. Hope to have you here on the banks and the bridge to celebrate together!
